Key Offseason Changes

The Giants enter 2026 with their most star-studded infield in years after locking up Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, and Matt Chapman to long-term deals. President of baseball operations Buster Posey has built a legitimate contender, and new manager Tony Vitello inherits significant talent.

Rotation additions include Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle to join Logan Webb, Robbie Ray, and emerging arm Landen Roupp. The loss of All-Star Randy Rodríguez to Tommy John surgery hurts the bullpen depth significantly. To compensate, San Francisco signed Sam Hentges ($1.4M), Jason Foley ($2M), and added JT Brubaker on a one-year deal.

The outfield received Harrison Bader on a two-year contract, while Joey Wiemer was acquired from the Marlins for cash. Justin Verlander departed in free agency. Casey Schmitt is recovering from offseason left wrist surgery, creating a potential opening at second base for spring competition.

Projected Starting Lineup

Order Player Position Prop Notes
1 Jung Hoo Lee CF Korean star, elite contact
2 Willy Adames SS 30 HR power, run producer
3 Rafael Devers 1B Elite bat, 30+ HR annually
4 Matt Chapman 3B Gold Glove defense, power bat
5 Heliot Ramos RF Breakout candidate, power/speed
6 Patrick Bailey C Elite defensive catcher
7 Harrison Bader LF Speed, defense, platoon bat
8 Tyler Fitzgerald 2B Competing for everyday role
9 Bryce Eldridge DH Top prospect, power upside

This lineup is absolutely loaded with proven bats. Rafael Devers moving to first base allows the infield to feature three 30+ HR threats in Devers, Adames, and Chapman. Jung Hoo Lee brings elite contact skills at the top, while Heliot Ramos is primed for a breakout with everyday at-bats. Patrick Bailey has emerged as one of baseball's best defensive catchers with a developing bat. The DH spot could feature top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who has elite power potential.

Projected Starting Rotation

Slot Pitcher Throws Prop Notes
SP1 Logan Webb R Staff ace, elite ground ball rate
SP2 Robbie Ray L Cy Young winner, strikeout upside
SP3 Adrian Houser R Veteran addition, ground ball arm
SP4 Landen Roupp R Emerging arm, high ceiling
SP5 Tyler Mahle R Returning from injury, upside

Logan Webb anchors the rotation as one of baseball's most reliable starters, featuring an elite ground ball rate that plays well at Oracle Park. Robbie Ray brings Cy Young pedigree with strikeout upside when healthy. Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle provide veteran depth, while Landen Roupp has emerged as a potential future ace. The loss of Randy Rodríguez to Tommy John removes a high-leverage option, putting more pressure on the starters to go deep into games.

Bullpen & Closer Situation

Closer: Ryan Walker emerged as the primary late-inning option and should handle the 9th inning. His ability to miss bats and limit walks makes him a reliable closer option on a contending team.

Setup: The loss of Randy Rodríguez (TJ surgery) hurts significantly. Jason Foley was signed ($2M) to provide high-leverage depth. Sam Hentges adds a quality left-handed option. The Giants are still exploring additions of veterans like Seranthony Domínguez or Michael Kopech.

Middle Relief: Jose Butto, Erik Miller, and Spencer Bivens provide depth. Gregory Santos returns on a minor league deal as a high-velocity option. The bullpen will need multiple arms to step up given the depth concerns.

Prop Betting Angles

Rafael Devers Total Home Runs: Devers has hit 30+ homers in multiple seasons and now has Oracle Park's dimensions to work with. With elite lineup protection from Chapman and Adames, 32+ homers are achievable. The over is attractive if the number sits at 28.5.
Willy Adames RBIs: Batting second in this loaded lineup with Devers and Chapman behind him, Adames will see plenty of fastballs. He's a legitimate 100+ RBI threat. Target the over if the number is set at 90 or lower.
Logan Webb Wins Total: Webb should get excellent run support from this lineup. His ability to pitch deep into games and induce ground balls limits damage. 15+ wins are realistic on a team projected for 90+ wins. The over has strong value.
Matt Chapman Total Home Runs: Chapman has 25-30 HR power and now has consistent lineup protection for the first time in years. If the number is 24.5, the over is attractive for a player in his prime playing in a favorable lineup spot.
Heliot Ramos Total Hits: Ramos is primed for a breakout with everyday at-bats in a loaded lineup. His contact skills and speed could produce 150+ hits if he stays healthy. This is a sleeper prop target with upside.
Robbie Ray Strikeouts: When healthy, Ray is one of baseball's premier strikeout artists. If he logs 170+ innings, 200 strikeouts are achievable. The under may be safer given injury history, but the ceiling is elite.
